Suzuki's Plan To Ramp Up Motorcycle Production Deferred By 18 Months Due To COVID - 19

COVID - 19 has caused all sorts of businesses to shut down or reduce the manufacturing capacity due to decreased requirement in the market and people showing less interest to buy new products.

The Automobile business has no different story. All the car and bike manufacturers are shutting down their manufacturing plants. The dealers have also closed the showrooms due to partial or complete lockdown in different cities and stated of India.

Suzuki Motorcycle India's plan to ramp up the production of motorcycles to 10 lakh units per annum has been deferred by up to one-and-a-half years. 

The company head Satoshi Uchida said, "Because of the COVID-19, starting from last year our project is slightly delayed. Originally we were expecting more progress in these two years but because of COVID-19, the market hasn't grown as expected... Earlier we had planned to enhance production capacity up to one million in this year but physically it is impossible in terms of number of sales."
